Dan Abrams was born in 1966 in New York City. He went to Duke University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1988.

Career in Journalism
Abrams joined NBC News as a general assignment correspondent in 1997. He later became the network’s chief legal correspondent and a regular contributor to NBC’s Today Show.
In 2001, he left NBC to become the general manager of MSNBC, an NBC-owned cable news network. In 2003, he was promoted to the position of vice president of NBC News.
Abrams left NBC in 2006 to become the chief legal analyst at ABC News. He also worked as an anchor for ABC News programs such as “Good Morning America,” “Nightline,” and “20/20.” Abrams worked for ABC News until 2011.

Entrepreneurship in the Media
After leaving ABC News, Abrams focused on media entrepreneurship. He established Abrams Media, a digital media company that runs several websites, including Mediaite, which covers media and politics, and Law&Crime, which covers legal news and trials. He also launched “The Dan Abrams Show” on SiriusXM.

Abrams continues to run Abrams Media and is actively involved in the company’s websites and radio shows. He is also ABC News’ chief legal analyst, a position he has held since 2011.
He provides legal analysis for the network’s news programs, including “Good Morning America,” “World News Tonight,” and “Nightline,” and he is a regular legal analyst on CNN and MSNBC.
