Jack Reacher 3: The third season of Tom Cruise’s legendary film Jack Reacher may have a few surprises in store.

Despite Jack Reacher’s box office success, it’s not surprise that Tom Cruise will not be a part of the series because he’s too busy filming Mission Impossible and performing stunts that may kill him.

Tom Cruise‘s debut Jack Reacher picture grossed $218 million worldwide in 2012, indicating that the star was on the verge of launching his next successful series. The film series halted with a dismal 2016 sequel, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. If it had gone forward, however, Jack Reacher 3 would have been a completely different film from its predecessors, one that was more loyal to Lee Child’s successful book series, on which the films are based.

Cruise and Mcquarrie Are Still Working on That R-rated Project

That news about the recasting of Jack Reacher was a real letdown, because Cruise and McQuarrie’s Hard-R take on the subject sounded actually exciting. It would also have been more in keeping with the graphic tone of Child’s original material. In any case, Amazon Studios is likely to beat Cruise and McQuarrie to the R-rated punch for Jack Reacher thanks to the free-reign streaming treatment.

The good news is that Cruise and McQuarrie are still planning a Hard-R take on such cinematic territory. In an interview with 2020 Empire, Christopher McQuarrie hinted that the two were working on an action film that would show Cruise in a new light. “It’s a very un-Tom character, and we’ve been talking about making an even more un-Tom character, which I’m hopeful will happen in the future. We haven’t gone on with the franchise. So now we’ve got something in the works. I’m actually very, very thrilled about the [Jack Reacher] stuff we’re talking about right now, it’s like tinker toys [compared to it].”

Jack Reacher 3 Cast

There is currently no clear idea of who will play Jack, but it will be worth the wait to see who is cast in the part. The most likely scenario is that the show will include a completely new cast member.

It appears that all of the characters they will bring to the show will be thoroughly examined and will generally suit the description.

  • Rosamund Pike as Helen Rodin
  • Richard Jenkins as Alex Rodin
  • Werner Herzog as The Zec

Lee Child Is the Reason Why Jack Reacher 3 Was Never Made

Jack Reacher 3

Despite McQuarrie and Cruise’s plans for a third picture that would conform more strictly to the books, Child chose a different path for his character’s live-action future, one that would feature an actor who more nearly matched the physical description of Reacher. In a wide-ranging November 2019 interview with The Sunday Times, Child discussed why it was time for Cruise to put up his Reacher boots and give someone else a chance to play the legendary ex-military man.

The author disclosed that he had a clause in his contract that allowed him to discontinue the film franchise after just two films, which he chose to exploit after the release of Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, according to The Sunday Times. “Cruise was apprehensive.

He was going to argue against it because he had invested in it “he stated “It may come across as patronising, but I believe it is beneficial to him. He’s far too old for this. He’s 57 years old, and it’s time for him to go on and become a character actor. He might be able to squeeze another 20 years out of it. He has the ability. He’s a great man who is thoughtful and entertaining.”

Cruise is short in stature, in addition to his age. Reacher, who is now 58 years old, is only 5′ 7″ tall, a far cry from the larger-than-life figure he portrays in the books. Nonetheless, Cruise is a hands-on action movie star who performs his own stunts and is heavily involved in the creative aspects of his films, so what he lacked in physique, he more than made up for in passion when it comes to the Jack Reacher franchise.

R-rated Jack Reacher Film Releasing Platform

An R-rated Jack Reacher film will not be Released on the Big Screen. While the Jack Reacher films appear to be on hold for the time being, Amazon Studios is bringing the character back to the small screen. According to BlogTO, the streaming service has ordered a new series based on the books, which will begin filming in Toronto in April 2021. Unlike the movies, the programme will feature an actor who fully matches Child’s descriptions in the books: Alan Ritchson of the 6′ 4″ Titans.

Apart from the fact that it has Child’s blessing, not much is known about the Amazon series at this time. According to The Hollywood Reporter, when the series was first revealed in January 2020, the author made a statement that stated, “It’s been amazing so far, but the real fun begins now. By now, I’m familiar with these characters, and I can assure you that Reacher is in excellent hands.”

Season 1 of Jack Reacher will focus on The Killing Floor, the first book in the long-running series. In the book, Reacher travels to a small Georgia town to investigate a cold case, but he soon finds himself arrested. It’s a bleak beginning to the character’s world, packed with action sequences that will finally provide readers with the R-rated Reacher action they’ve been craving – minus Cruise and director McQuarrie.

Even if there was, I don’t believe Tom Cruise should be in it. Reacher, in my opinion, isn’t cut out for the big screen. It should be turned into a full-fledged television show. He has enough material and ammunition in his tale arc to deliver the goods.

Let us now attempt to answer the question of whether or not there will be a third Jack Reacher film. The answer is that it all depends on the numbers. The first film grossed $300 million, whereas the second grossed less. So, based on financial logic, I don’t think they’ll be able to make it.

Which begs the question of who would be the ideal Jack Reacher if it were made into a TV series.
