Before joining CNN in 2006, Lemon served as a news correspondent for NBC, contributing to shows like Today and NBC Nightly News. When CNN hired him to host CNN Tonight in 2014, he quickly rose to stardom. Lemon has won three regional Emmys in addition to the Edward R. Murrow Award. Don Lemon Early life

Lemon Richardson was born to Katherine Marie (Bouligney) and Wilmon Lee Richardson on March 1, 1966, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His father was a distinguished lawyer who helped bring up a case that ended segregation in Baton Rouge’s public transit systems. At the age of five, Lemon learned that his biological father was Wilmon, despite having been born with the surname of his mother’s then-husband.

His maternal grandmother was the daughter of a black woman and a white father of French and Scots-Irish descent, therefore he has African-American and Creole ancestry. Located in Baker, East Baton Rouge Parish, Baker High School was his public secondary institution of choice. In his senior year, Lemon won the election as president of his class.

Over the summer of 2016, Don Lemon began dating Tim Malone. The CNN host came out publicly about his relationship with Tim in April 2017 after Tim made an appearance on Lemon’s Instagram and stated that they had met in New York.

Both were spotted attending the 28th annual GLAAD Media Awards hand in hand shortly thereafter. In a New Year’s kiss caught on camera in 2018, the couple appeared to be declaring their love for one another with an “I love you, baby” from Lemon to Tim.

A year later, Lemon shared the happy news that she was engaged. Lemon wrote that he couldn’t say no to Tim when he proposed using the dogs in an Instagram post. Early in his career, Lemon reported as a weekend news anchor for WBRC in Birmingham, Alabama, and for WCAU in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition to becoming the host of a St. Louis, Missouri newscast, he also worked as an investigator for KTVI.

Former NBC News correspondent and anchor for Today and NBC Nightly News, as well as Weekend Today and MSNBC, Lemon covered New York City for NBC News. In 2003, he started working as a reporter and local news co-anchor at NBC-owned and -operated station WMAQ-TV in Chicago. While working for WMAQ, he earned three Emmys for his work in local news.
