Sean Penn’s mother Eileen Ryan, who won an Oscar, has passed away. The actress passed away on October 9, 2022, at the age of 94, at her home in Malibu, California, according to a family representative (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Her death’s cause hasn’t been made public. While rehearsing for a 1957 production of “The Iceman Cometh,” Ryan, then Eileen Annucci, met her future husband Leo Penn. It is safe to say that they passed on their creative genes to their offspring (via Deadline).

The same source claims that in addition to Sean, the couple had two other children: Christopher, an actor before his death in 2006, and Michael, a musician best known for his 1989 hit “No Myth.”

In 1953, Ryan made her Broadway debut, and soon after she turned her attention to Hollywood. She made her debut on television in 1955 on “Goodyear Television Playhouse,” which served as the beginning of a lengthy career in the entertainment business (via IMDb).
