Big Boi Divorce! Why The Couple Separated After 20 Years of Marriage?

Big Boi and Sherlita Patton have ended their relationship.

According to court records acquired by TMZ, the divorce of the Outkast member and real estate entrepreneur has been completed after 20 years of marriage.

Antwan Patton, the musician, filed for divorce in April, and the court issued the final divorce order last month. His filing said that he had “no realistic possibility of reunion” with Sherlita and that the couple had previously been living apart.
As part of the peaceful divorce, they allegedly promised not to threaten each other with “damage, maltreatment, molestation, harassing, injuring, or abusing.”

Big Boi, 47, and Sherlita, 49, married in March 2002 and have two children: Jordan, 27, and Cross, 21. He also has a 22-year-old son from a previous relationship, Bamboo.

Sherlita filed for divorce from Outkast in 2013, alleging their marriage was “irretrievably destroyed” and demanding financial support and full custody. He reacted by requesting joint custody of Cross, then 12, and claiming Sherlita could support herself.

Big Boi attributed the couple’s reconciliation to “Jesus” the following year. In 2014, he told TMZ, “A family that prays together stays together.”

Two years later, Big Boi and Sherlita executed a postnuptial agreement in secret that split their assets and debts.

For Valentine’s Day in 2019, the “Roses” singer paid tribute to Sherlita on his Instagram profile. Big Boi tweeted, “Happy Anniversary Baby Girl, Luv u Mrs. Patton,” alongside two photographs of the couple smiling together, followed by the hashtags “#EmptyNestCountdown” and “EverydayIsThe14th.”
