When Will The Sequel To Eternals Be Released?

Walt Disney Studios released ‘Eternals’ in theatres on November 5, 2021. The film had its world debut at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on October 18, 2021, and was released in some countries on November 3, 2021, before hitting theatres worldwide a few days later. It will be available on Disney+ at a later date.

The film was supposed to be released on November 6, 2020, but it was repeatedly postponed owing to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the film and theatre industries. The film has had a mixed reception from critics. Its visual flair and epic scope have been acclaimed by critics, although its exposition and overall tempo have been questioned.

Fans expecting to see more of the Eternals shouldn’t be concerned, since the film’s critical reception is unlikely to have a significant impact on the characters’ future. The movie ends with a slate confirming that the Eternals will return, as is typical of Marvel Studios’ interrelated films. As a result, these characters are far from finished. It remains to be seen whether the characters appear in later works or in a direct sequel.

Director Chloé Zhao has stated that she intended for ‘Eternals’ to be a stand-alone film, although she has not ruled out the potential of a sequel. Producer Nate Moore cautioned fans’ expectations of a sequel in an interview with the Toronto Sun. “It’s not something that’s a must-have,” he remarked. We obviously have ideas on where we could go, but there is no hard and fast rule that says we must have three of these things, and this is the first.”

We can infer from Zhao and Moore’s statements that a direct sequel isn’t assured, but it’s still a possibility. As a result, we’ll have to wait for the studio to make an official announcement. If the film’s audience response and box office results meet the studio’s expectations, a sequel might be in the works.

Although this occurs, fans should not expect a new instalment to be released anytime soon. Phase 4 of Marvel Studios is already jam-packed, with films set to hit theatres well into 2023. As a result, ‘Eternals 2’ could be on our screens as early as 2024.

Who Could Be In The Eternals Sequel Cast?

Gemma Chan plays Sersi, Richard Madden plays Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani plays Kingo, Lia McHugh plays Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry plays Phastos, and Lauren Ridloff plays Makkari in ‘Eternals.’ Druig is played by Barry Keoghan, Gilgamesh is played by Don Lee, Ajak is played by Salma Hayek, and Thena is played by Angelina Jolie. Kit Harington, Harish Patel, Haaz Sleiman, and Esai Daniel Cross play Dane Whitman, Karun, Ben, and Jack, respectively, in supporting parts. In the mid-credits scene, Harry Styles makes a guest appearance as Starfox.

The majority of the key cast members are anticipated to return in a ‘Eternals 2’ sequel. Both Hayek and Lee’s characters could emerge in flashback sequences despite their deaths. Given his character’s unclear fate at the end of the first film, Madden’s involvement will most likely be contingent on the plot of the sequel. In the sequel, Harington and Styles could have a bigger role. For the sequel, we’re also sure to see some fresh faces among the cast.

The Sequel To Eternals Plot: What Could It Possibly Be About?

In ‘Eternals,’ the heroes discover that they have been supposed to protect the planet so that a Celestial can emerge from it rather than destroy the Earth by gathering the energy of the life forms. They decide to save the Earth despite their superiors’ orders. The heroes part ways after fighting the Deviants and putting an end to the emergence. Druig, Thena, and Makkari travel through space in search of more Eternals to free them from the Celestials’ command. The remaining Eternals return to Earth to resume their lives.

The heroes may band together in ‘Eternals 2′ to fight with the Celestials’ fury. Sersi may embark on a quest to reclaim her powers, which she seems to have lost at the end of the previous film. Dane may take up the mantle of the Black Knight and assist the Eternals in their mission to safeguard the Earth. The other Eternals might be able to discover more about their forefathers, the First Generation Eternals, and their ties to the Celestials.
