25-year-old killed after unidentified vehicle hit bike in South Delhi

New Delhi: A 25-year-old youth was killed after an unidentified vehicle hit his bike in south-east Delhi’s flyover on Tuesday evening.

The deceased, Hifzur Rahman was working with Muthoot Finance as an executive. He was returning home from office when the accident took place around 7 pm at the flyover from Moolchand to Ashram.

Rahman who was the sole bread winner of the family had lost his parents four years ago in Darbhanga, Bihar. He is now survived by his brother and two sisters. He was a BBA graduate and had earlier worked with HDFC.

An eyewitness, who called the police, said the accident happened at Lajpat Nagar flyover and he stopped an ambulance passing by and rushed the injured to the hospital. However, Rahman was declared brought dead at the hospital. When the police team reached the spot they found a cement brick on the flyover.

According to Rahman’s friend Mohd Imran, Rahman who was wearing helmet at the time of accident had no major injuries on his body except his neck and face and bike too has minimal damage, Imran suspect that it could be a light vehicle which might have hit the bike.

The deceased was a resident of Abul Fazal Enclave, Okhla. The body has been sent to his native place Babu Salimpur village in Darbhanga yesterday and final rites will be performed today.

Police has registered a case under rash driving and causing death by negligence. “We have registered a case under section 279 and 304A and are investigating. We are trying to find which vehicle hit the bike which resulted in the fatal accident,” said a senior police officer.
