Goa: As per the result declared by the election authority today candidate of Bhartiya Janta Party Vishwajeet Pratap Singh Rane registered a massive victory from Valpoi constituency with margin of more than ten thousand votes in the assembly bye polls.
Valpoi town is a head quarter of Sattari Taluka (North Goa) which is famous for Muslim population in the state. Constituency has nearly 28 thousand votes in which Muslims share about 4 thousand votes.
Earlier Vishwajeet was a Congress leader and won four assembly elections consecutively but after Goa assembly poll results in June 2017, he left Congress and joined Parrikar led BJP Govt. and decided to fight bye poll election on BJP ticket.
The major reason behind parting his way was Congress failure for not making any attempt to form the government despite winning 17 seats.
Vishwajeet has managed to bag 16167 votes out of 23038 total votes polled.
His opponent Indian National Congress candidate Roy Naik got 6101 votes and the third independent candidate received only 316 votes. It is notable that 454 people have rejected all the candidates and pressed the NOTA(None of the above) button.
Speaking with media person Vishwajeet admitted that voters of all communities extended their full support to him. He further thanked them all from bottom of heart for keeping their faith in him.
Ex. Councillor Fahmida Khan said, “We the Muslims have already given enough opportunities to the Congress. I personally felt that there is nothing wrong in trying BJP this time. Vishwajeet Rane is a visionary leader he has capacity to take our taluka to the new heights.” She further said, during his tenure as a health minister he has proved himself by his work and its well known that he works without considering cast and creed. Hence we supported him aggressively, added Fahmida.
An eminent politician and seating Councillor Akhtar Shah told Theshahab.com that its a fantastic display of progressive thinking by the Muslims of my ward and other areas. He says, our leader Vishwajeet hails from very prestigious political family. He is a leader who has earned separate identity to our Taluka. Akhtar further said that today’s majestic show is enough for others to understand his image and political stature. Other Councillors Sarfaraz Sayed, Parveen Shaikh, Shahzeen Shaikh and ex Councillors Faisal Shaikh, Sharafat Khan, social activist Shaikh Jamaluddin and hundreds of Muslim youngesters took part in the campaign to make their candidate win.
Meanwhile, seating chief minister of Goa and ex. Union defence minister Manohar Parrikar also defeated Congress candidate Girish Chodankar by more than 5000 votes in Panaji bye poll.
