Mumbai: Gul Bootey, Urdu monthly children magazine has started a personality development program named “Taleem ka Khawab, Tabeer ki Taleem” (Dream of Education, Meaning of Education) to give students an opportunity to gain more exposure.
As a part of the initiative, 150 Urdu medium students studying in 6th std. to 9th std. from Govandi have been selected through Gul Bootey Enterance Exam.
The inaugural function was held at Shivaji Nagar Municipal School No.2 on Saturday. Pune based Motivational Speaker Syed Saeed Ahmed delivered a talk on personality development. Renowned Urdu poet Dr Qasim Imam presided over the function.
Principal Muhammed Suhail Lokhandwala (Ex MLA) in his speech urged parents, teachers and students to give special attention to Marathi and English subjects.
The objective type of exam was based on Science, Maths, Marathi, English and General Knowledge subjects. Nearly 600 students who scored more 70% marks in their previous academic year took part in the exams.
The personality grooming classes will be conducted on weekends and public holidays in Baitun Nasseb Urdu high School, Govandi. Subject Matter Experts including Civil Services officers will be guiding the students about their area of interests, aspirations and overall personality grooming.
Farroque Sayyed, Editor Gul Bootey magazine in an exclusive talk with TheShahab.com said, “Preparing Urdu medium students for competitive exams is the need of an hour, it is our small attempt to identify and enhance the capabilities of the students so that they can reach to the greater heights of success.”
Sayyed further said that depending upon the response, they are further planning to take this initiative to Mumbai and other cities in Maharashtra as well.
Govandi has over 60 per cent Muslim population and nearly 25 Urdu high schools imparting education to approx. ten thousand students.
Gul Bootey, established in the year 1995 is a popular Urdu monthly children’s magazine. It has established itself as the most preferred Urdu Magazine in the country.
