Solapur (Maharashtra): In view of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s 200th birth anniversary, Khadiman-e-Urdu Forum – a leading social and educational NGO of the city has decided to dedicate the whole year to make awareness among students about the life and work of the pioneer of modern education among the Muslims of the Indian sub-continent.
As a part of the initiative, a programme at Maulana Wastanvi Urdu high School and Junior College has been conducted on 17 October by the NGO.
Sir Syed was a great educationist, social reformist, philosopher, an advocate of peaceful coexistence, author, just to name a few but more popularly known for establishing the Aligarh Muslim University.
Since the British had replaced Persian with English as the official language Sir Syed thought it prudent to attract Muslims to the language. He established Mohammadan Anglo-Oriental College to promote modern education. The college grew to become Aligarh Muslim University in 1920.
During the programme, a documentary highlighting the positive thinking, educational struggle and life work of Sir Syed was screened.
Documentary is compiled and directed by Syed Saeed Ahmed, a Pune based Motivational Speaker. It shows the clear picture of this great soul’s sacrifice and devotion for his community and for the upcoming generations.
Students and teachers and social workers have attended the programme in a large number.
President of Khadiman-e-Urdu Forum, Viqar Ahmed Shaikh informed Theshahab.com that we have planned to involve more and more students in this year to introduce Sir Syed’s life, modern thinking and contribution to the society. He also said that we are conducting Sir Syed Quiz, Objective Tests and other competitions in nearly 100 primary and high schools and Junior colleges.
Head Master of Moulana Wastanvi High School and Jr. College Sarafarz Balool Khan commented that showing the Documentary to the students is fruitful and it is result oriented way to inform students about this great personality. We are going to conduct some more activities to highlight the contribution of Sir Syed through video Visual teaching aids.
Students and teachers and social workers including Dr. Shafi Chinese, Nazeer Munshi , Shafi Captain and Ayyub Nallamandu have attended the function.
