Independence has been celebrated all over India with full zeal and enthusiasm. On this special day government establishments, NGOs, Educational institutions unfurl the tricolour and recall the sacrifice of the freedom fighters and Martyrs and pay their homage. Some of them invite their relatives as part of respect and recognition.
It is very shameful to say above things are not happening in Solapur since years. They have forgotten Hawaldar Mohsin Shaikh’s martyrdom which is unique example before the city.
On 13 may 2011 Brave heart Mohsin gave his life to motherland at the age of 27 years during an intensive gun battle with terrorist in Kupwara near Indopak Border and left behind 21 year old widow and only 18 days old daughter
According to Mohsin’s Father Ghulam Mohammed Shaikh earlier number of known personalities including Ex. Union Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, MLA Praniti Shinde, Solapur BJP MP Sharad Bansode and some of Shiv Sena leader used to visit us but since last 3 years no leader or eminent person visited us.
It is very shocking that not a single Muslim name is included in the above list. All the so called Muslim politicians, social workers, schools who make tall claims of representing community have forgotten their own city boy’s sacrifice.
Widow of Mohsin, Shaziya expressed unhappiness over the ignorance of their community people during her conversation with theshahab.com and said that forgetting everything is a nature of people.
She further said, we are expecting gallantry award for my late husband but we have not yet received any response from government. My father in-law is demanding to establish Shaheed Stambh (Ulta Shastra) in Gurunak Chowk since last five years but Solapur municipal corporation also side lined our demand, she added.
It is notable that Shaziya had recently contested municipal election on Indian national Congress party ticket but her party also didn’t give importance to presence of Solapur city’s one and only martyr’s widow during flag hoisting at Congress bhavan.
Social activist and a police man (retd.) Fayaz Munshi slammed all the politicians, educational institutions and Non governmental organization by saying some are busy in corruption, some have no mental level and others want only cheap publicity and leadership. He further said , love for mother land respect for real heroes (Soldiers) should come from heart which is missing.
Hasib Nadaf A congress party city vice President and a eminent social worker took serious note of the theshahab.com call and accepted the mistake of the community and the party. He said, Hawaldar Mohsin’s and soldiers sacrifice should not be sidelined and due respect should be given to their families by inviting them on special occasions.
Dozens of NGOs, schools and colleges of Muslims are functioning in the city. They conduct all kinds of activities, spend thousands on glamorous guests. Same people are forgetting the kin of a brave heart who made the whole community and city proud.
